Check current WATI plans ↗Short answer: what makes a useful WATI alternative?
AiSensy is worth evaluating for India-focused broadcasts and retargeting. Interakt or Zoko deserve attention for commerce and WhatsApp sales campaigns. Gallabox combines AI and channel/workflow capabilities. respond.io is for larger omnichannel teams. Gupshup is a developer-first WhatsApp infrastructure option. GetClosifi is a narrower choice for AI qualification of inbound Instagram and WhatsApp leads.
The word “alternative” can hide an important mismatch. If your WATI account runs approved template campaigns, you need to replace campaign management and delivery. If your problem is missed inbound enquiries, your priority may be response, qualification, lead context and human handoff. Those are different buying decisions.

What does WATI already do—and why might a team switch?
WATI's published pricing and plan matrix lists Growth, Pro and Business. Growth covers a small shared inbox and campaign automation; Pro expands automation, operator controls, workflows and integrations; Business adds capabilities for multiple numbers and higher-volume operations. WATI markets WhatsApp, Instagram automation, team inboxes, campaigns and AI-related products; calling it “WhatsApp only” is an oversimplification.
Some buyer objections are not faults so much as economics. Growth includes three users, Pro and Business list five included users, additional operators can cost extra, automation triggers differ by tier, and messages are charged separately. Astra AI Agents appear as an add-on in the plan descriptions. If you need two staff and basic campaigns, WATI may already be a good fit; if you need AI qualification with minimal setup or a large cross-channel team, compare other structures.
Important: WATI's numeric subscription price is rendered differently by billing cycle and region. We avoid inventing a single universal India price and link the live calculator instead. Its actual pricing should be compared with messaging fees, AI add-ons, extra seats and tax.
Seven alternatives to WATI at a glance
These platforms are not all feature-for-feature WATI clones. The table describes where each one is most relevant. The published starting prices are reference points, not necessarily the tier required for AI Agents or high-volume marketing.
| Platform | Good fit | Reference price/model | Important limitation |
|---|---|---|---|
| AiSensy | WhatsApp broadcast marketing & inbox | Basic ₹1,500/month; AI add-on | AI conversations and templates may add cost |
| Interakt | Instagram + WhatsApp campaigns and commerce | Growth $55/month; AI packages separate | Confirm relevant WhatsApp + AI product line |
| Gallabox | Multi-channel conversations with optional AI depth | Basic ₹2,399/month on annual billing | WhatsApp/Instagram AI Agent on higher tier |
| Zoko | WhatsApp sales tied to commerce/catalogs | USD tiered subscription and channel usage | May be too commerce-focused for service sales |
| respond.io | Omnichannel teams, complex workflows | $79 Starter; $159 Growth with AI Agents | Usage and advanced tiers add complexity |
| GetClosifi | Instagram/WhatsApp inbound AI qualification | ₹999 Starter; 1 AI Sales Employee | Not a broadcast-first platform |
| Gupshup | Developer-led WhatsApp API integrations | Self-serve pay-as-you-use, no monthly commitment | Requires own application/integration work |

Detailed comparison: benefits, limits and buying questions
1. AiSensy: for India-focused WhatsApp campaigns
AiSensy's pricing page offers a free-access tier, a ₹1,500/month Basic plan and more advanced marketing plans. It emphasizes broadcast campaigns, segmentation, a multi-agent inbox and Click-to-WhatsApp ads. The AI Chat Agent is a separately priced product, publicly listed at ₹1,350 for 1,000 AI messages/month.
Useful for: promotion-driven teams that send approved templates, retarget segments and manage replies. Ask how outbound marketing templates, service messages and AI usage will be billed for your Indian customer base.
Trade-off: Don't assume the low headline plan includes every AI flow or a full sales pipeline.
2. Interakt: for businesses that also need commerce operations
Interakt offers a Marketing & Support Hub, Instagram automation, WhatsApp Sales CRM and separate AI Agents products. The public USD list includes $55 Growth and $69 Advanced monthly levels for the broader marketing hub; a separate Sales CRM is listed at ₹2,499/month plus taxes. This range can make sense for businesses running campaign, commerce and agent-led service work together.
Useful for: Shopify or D2C teams who need catalog sales, WhatsApp campaigns and human operators alongside an inbox.
Trade-off: Map the exact combination of hub, Sales CRM and AI add-on before deciding it is cheaper or costlier than WATI.

3. Gallabox: for broader conversational automation
Gallabox's public table distinguishes Basic at ₹2,399/month equivalent, billed annually from Essential at ₹5,599/month equivalent, billed annually. Its WhatsApp and Instagram AI Agents are described under Essential, while Basic focuses on simpler channel/inbox functionality and web AI. The product also presents drips, integrations, team management and richer plans.
Useful for: a team that wants AI-led conversations plus more channels, team visibility, and later additional workflow complexity.
Trade-off: AI credit budgets, onboarding, messages and channel add-ons need checking at the tier you actually want.
4. Zoko: for product, catalog and order conversations
Zoko lists WhatsApp catalog features, bulk broadcasts, tags, distribution and ecommerce-oriented messaging workflows. Its official pricing is USD-based with tier-dependent included conversations, calling and agents. A store that wants inventory/product interactions may value the commerce orientation more than generic lead qualification.
Useful for: stores selling from a catalog and building repeat purchase conversations on WhatsApp.
Trade-off: A property agency or consultant should test if commerce-centric workflows create unnecessary effort. Also check Instagram/WhatsApp charges per tier.
5. respond.io: for teams that have outgrown a WhatsApp-centric setup
respond.io lists $79/month Starter, $159/month Growth and $279/month Advanced. Growth adds AI Agents, broadcasts and workflow automation. Advanced adds webhooks, multiple workspaces, SSO and other controls. It fits organizations dealing with multiple channels and teams, where routing and customer lifecycle matter as much as individual messages.
Useful for: sales and support operations coordinating messaging channels, automation and reporting in one platform.
Trade-off: This is not a low-cost substitute for a simple AI reply function. Compare contact/AI allowance and the real needed plan.
6. GetClosifi: for one AI Sales Employee and a clear human handoff
GetClosifi intentionally focuses on capturing Instagram and WhatsApp enquiries, asking sales qualification questions and recording usable lead context. Its three public plans are ₹999 Starter, ₹1,999 Growth and ₹2,999 Scale. All include one AI Sales Employee, with larger conversation/lead limits and additional functions on higher tiers.
Useful for: service businesses that primarily need to answer inbound enquiries, understand a budget or requirement and identify what a salesperson should do next.
Trade-off: Not a like-for-like replacement for WATI's large broadcast campaigns, deeply specialized ecommerce stack, multi-number operations or enterprise routing. Test each required Meta channel and any owner-approval step in a live trial.

7. Gupshup: for building rather than buying an inbox workflow
Gupshup's official self-serve documentation describes a WhatsApp API platform with no ongoing subscription commitment for self-serve setup. Developers can connect a WABA and build their own application around events, message delivery, and business rules. It is a practical alternative for a company that has an engineering team and wants flexible integration rather than a packaged AI sales product.
Useful for: agencies, integrators and product teams with developers to own the workflow and operations.
Trade-off: API pricing does not include the cost of building, securing, hosting and maintaining a complete shared inbox or sales assistant.
Five tests to run before moving away from WATI
Don't judge only the sales demo. Give each shortlisted vendor the same difficult tasks and record whether they complete them. A buyer can use this checklist without needing a huge software evaluation committee.
- Inbound lead from a real campaign: Can the tool capture the enquiry source and keep the same customer's full context? What happens if the lead replies later?
- AI and human handoff: Can it collect product, budget, timeline and location, then safely hand the case to the owner without inventing product availability?
- Outbound message rules: Are the necessary WhatsApp templates approved? What do send failures, opt-outs, permission changes and follow-up windows look like?
- Team workload and permissions: Test the actual number of operator seats and how two people avoid answering the same enquiry.
- Billing under load: Quote the same marketing templates, customer threads, AI messages, extra users and support tier, then compare the full after-tax totals.
Four buying scenarios make the trade-offs clearer
Real estate: 30 leads arrive while your agent shows properties
The first problem is understanding whether the prospect wants a 2BHK in a particular neighbourhood and within a stated budget. A focused AI qualification product can be useful, but it must transfer accurate property options and the customer's request. Test GetClosifi or Gallabox rather than buying a broadcast system purely for lead qualification.
Retail: a festival campaign needs thousands of offers sent
Template approval, consent, suppression lists, segmentation, reporting and Meta costs matter more than the ability to ask budget questions. WATI, AiSensy or Interakt deserve a closer operational comparison. GetClosifi is not positioned as the broadcast engine here.
Shopify store: customers ask about stock and delivery
Look at what data the platform can read and what the operator can actually do: catalog selection, cart events, order follow-up and shipping updates. Interakt and Zoko have more directly commerce-oriented offerings. Ask for a test with a real item, not a mock card.
Agency: one account handles multiple clients and channels
Permissions, account isolation, integration limits, reporting and transfer of number ownership become critical. Consider respond.io for wider team workflows or a Gupshup-backed custom integration if you have engineering resources.
Calculate the real WATI alternative cost, not just the sticker price
Total cost = platform subscription + Meta messaging + provider charges + AI credits or add-ons + extra seats/channels + taxes + implementation/support.
Write down the billing unit next to every cost. A “contact”, “conversation”, “AI credit” and “delivered marketing template” are not interchangeable. Ask vendors for their exact definitions and an example invoice.
Meta describes WhatsApp Business Platform pricing by delivered message category and market, with separate rules for entry points and customer service windows. These policies can change and some third-party guides disagree on current details; use Meta's official pricing page as the reference for your destination markets. We do not invent one India-wide universal WhatsApp message price.
Example of a fair procurement comparison
Suppose your team has four human operators, one WhatsApp number, 2,000 customer threads, 5,000 outbound marketing template deliveries and an AI assistant. Price each provider against exactly this workload. If an entry tier cannot support four users or AI, compare the appropriate higher tier—otherwise the “cheapest” software may be the wrong software.
Switching checklist: protect your WhatsApp number and customer context
- Verify WABA ownership: confirm which Meta Business Portfolio owns the account, phone number, permissions and API setup.
- Inventory active operations: list all automation triggers, consent records, campaigns, templates, integration webhooks, human seats and open customer threads.
- Request the new provider's migration procedure: ask about number transfer, coexistence eligibility, template status, account restrictions and downtime risk.
- Export permissible data: preserve contacts, opt-in information, configuration and reports as allowed. Do not assume old message history is automatically imported.
- Run controlled tests and plan rollback: test an inbound message, approved outbound template, failure alert, handoff and an Instagram enquiry before committing fully.
If the target provider cannot clearly explain how your current WABA and WhatsApp number will move, stop the migration until the account-specific details are confirmed.

Frequently asked WATI alternative questions
Is there a cheaper WATI alternative in India?
Depending on the needed features, yes. GetClosifi lists ₹999/month for inbound AI sales qualification; AiSensy lists ₹1,500/month Basic for WhatsApp campaigns. These are not direct feature matches, and extra AI or Meta messaging charges may apply.
Which WATI alternative includes AI Agents?
GetClosifi plans include one AI Sales Employee, Gallabox lists channel AI Agents on Essential, and respond.io includes AI Agents from Growth. AiSensy sells an AI Chat Agent add-on. Compare the actual agent task and usage limits instead of counting “AI” labels.
Can GetClosifi replace WATI for WhatsApp broadcasts?
No, not as a like-for-like high-volume campaign platform. It is optimized for inbound conversations, qualification and handoff. For large broadcast workflows, compare WATI with specialized campaign vendors.
What if I need Instagram and WhatsApp in one sales process?
Test message ingestion, customer identity, channel rules, AI handoff and follow-up on both channels. GetClosifi and Gallabox are relevant for lead-focused evaluations; Interakt and WATI also market Instagram functions. Do not assume identical feature availability across every plan.
Will I lose my WhatsApp number when switching?
Not necessarily, but transfer depends on account ownership, eligibility and the providers' supported Meta setup. Get the account-specific migration plan in writing, and separately confirm whether templates and message history are retained.
What matters more: cheaper per-month pricing or better lead conversion?
Both affect return on investment. Model the entire bill and test actual sales workflow outcomes such as qualified requirements captured, timely owner handoffs and next actions completed. A lower subscription is not a guarantee of better results.
Comparing WATI with Gupshup's API model?
Read the dedicated Gupshup vs WATI guide for self-serve message fees, India PAYG eligibility, operator-inbox requirements and migration steps. This is a different question from comparing two ready-made WhatsApp campaign interfaces.

Choose a WATI alternative by the task you need to complete
Before requesting a demo, write down your main task: sending campaigns, running an operator inbox, handling store orders, or qualifying inbound enquiries. A lower subscription is useful only if the tool completes that task with your actual channels and team.
- Campaigns: Test consent records, template approval, opt-outs and delivery reporting.
- Sales qualification: Test requirement capture, accurate product information and a clear human handoff.
- Commerce: Test a real stock question and an order exception against your store integration.
- Switching: Confirm account ownership, number migration, exports and a rollback procedure before moving traffic.
